Job Description
Fujairah University’s Department of Psychology, within the College of Arts and Humanities, seeks to appoint a highly qualified Assistant / Associate Professor in Psychology with demonstrated excellence in university teaching, student mentorship, research, curriculum development, and academic service. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality bilingual teaching in Arabic and English, scholarly research, undergraduate field-training supervision, community engagement, and the continuous enhancement of the Psychology program. The role also includes active support for quality assurance and academic accreditation processes in accordance with institutional policies and the requirements of the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR) and the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited institution, with demonstrated continuity of specialization in Psychology from the bachelor’s degree through Master’s and Doctoral studies.
- The Ph.D. degree must include both completed coursework and a thesis/dissertation.
- Bilingual proficiency in Arabic and English, with the ability to teach, communicate, and produce academic and professional documentation in both languages.
- At least three years of university-level teaching experience in Psychology or the area of specialization, or equivalent academic experience appropriate to the rank applied for.
- Demonstrated expertise in Psychology, with an in-depth understanding of the candidate’s own specialization(s).
- Evidence of relevant research potential and/or an established publication record in peer-reviewed, reputable international journals.
- Evidence of effective university-level teaching.
- Ability to teach in face-to-face, online, and hybrid learning environments.
- Ability to initiate course, curriculum, and program development.
- Understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity issues.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and ethical practices.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage assigned work programs.
- Ability to satisfy credential attestation/equivalency requirements in accordance with UAE regulations when required.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Teaching, Learning, and Student Advising
- Teach Psychology and specialization courses.
- Develop course syllabi, teaching materials, and assessment strategies.
- Deliver teaching in face-to-face, online, and hybrid modes.
- Fulfill all teaching, assessment, and advising responsibilities.
- Provide academic and professional advising.
- Supervise undergraduate field-training students.
- Research and Scholarly Activity
- Conduct original research and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
- Participate in individual or collaborative research projects.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops.
- Engage students in research activities where appropriate.
- Comply with research ethics and academic integrity policies.
- Program Development, Quality Assurance, and Academic Accreditation
- Participate in curriculum and program development.
- Align learning outcomes with standards, labor-market needs, and accreditation requirements.
- Support quality assurance and accreditation processes.
- Prepare course files, reports, assessment analyses, and improvement plans.
- Contribute to accreditation documentation and evidence preparation.
- Support accreditation visits and follow-up activities.
- Monitor improvement initiatives and action plans.
- Comply with university policies related to academic integrity and records management
- Service, Governance, and Institutional Engagement
- Work collaboratively with colleagues.
- Serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- Provide reports on teaching, advising, research, and service activities.
- Contribute to community-service and psychological-awareness initiatives.
