Head of Digital Innovation Department

The Head of Digital Innovation Department is responsible for leading the University's digital transformation strategy by identifying and piloting innovative technologies that enhance teaching, learning, research, and administrative services. The role drives innovation initiatives, promotes digital culture, and ensures the effective adoption of emerging technologies to improve institutional performance and user experience, in partnership with the IT Department for technical implementation.

SCOPE & COORDINATION WITH IT DEPARTMENT:

The Head of Digital Innovation owns the identification, evaluation, and piloting of new digital solutions, and championing their adoption across academic and administrative departments. Technical implementation, infrastructure, security, and ongoing operation of any approved solution remain the responsibility of the IT Department, which the Head of Digital Innovation partners with throughout.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and implement the University's digital innovation and transformation strategy aligned with institutional objectives.
• Lead digital transformation initiatives across academic and administrative departments.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), automation, data analytics, and smart campus solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to redesign business processes and improve operational efficiency through digital solutions.
• Promote innovation by fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Champion the piloting and adoption of digital platforms, applications, and technology-enabled services, in partnership with the IT Department for technical implementation and ongoing operation.
• Lead digital innovation projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and alignment with strategic priorities.
• Monitor digital trends and recommend technologies that enhance teaching, learning, research, and student services.
• Establish governance, policies, and best practices for digital innovation initiatives.
• Manage departmental budgets, vendor relationships, and technology partnerships.
• Measure and report the impact of digital transformation initiatives using performance indicators.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the Digital Innovation team while promoting cross-functional collaboration.

QUALIFICATIONS &  EXPERIENCE:

• Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Digital Transformation, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in digital transformation, innovation management, or technology strategy, preferably within higher education.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, project management, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of digital transformation strategies, AI applications, cloud technologies, data analytics, automation, innovation management, project management methodologies, and digital governance frameworks.

KNOWLEDGE &  SKILLS:

• Strong knowledge of digital transformation strategies and innovation management.
• Knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI), automation, data analytics, and emerging technologies.
• Understanding of cloud computing, enterprise systems, and digital platforms.
• Knowledge of project and change management methodologies.
• Familiarity with digital governance, cybersecurity principles, and data privacy regulations.
